In April, Shoot The Band features RoomFour. An engaging electric pop rock duo with conspicuous jazz roots, RoomFour doesn’t want to change the world, but simply “facilitate communication between people” with their music.

Join us in the studio with RoomFour and meet other creatives, network, learn pro studio gear and have a good time making great images.

Juju provides:
the strobes, lighting setup, backdrops, model, & corkscrew.

You provide:
Your camera, posing ideas, 10 usable promo photos for the band.

Participation Agreement:
Photos from this shoot are for promotional purposes ONLY. Request and negotiate a model release from the band if you feel you need one. This is not provided by the meetup. The band must retain the photographer’s credit on any images used.

By participating in this shoot you do solemnly swear to:
1. Upload (a minimum of) 10 retouched quality photos to the designated meetup gallery
2. Upload your photos by April 1st, 2012
3. Grant the band permission to use uploaded photos for promotional purposes only (photo specs are 300 dpi, 8×10 inches minimum) Your photos may be watermarked and meta tagged

4. Supplying the band with photos from the session is a stipulation to attend Shoot The Band in the future.

Shooting protocol:
We shoot in rotation, one at a time. Time is divided evenly among attending photographers / per setup.

All levels welcomed, we even help newbies learn strobe basics. We throw one of these every month, they’re always a big hit with great networking opportunities. Juju is not able to supply alcohol, but BYOB is perfectly acceptable, munchies provided.

Wolfon Wear is women’s designer clothing by Robert Powell out of Houston, TX. Wolfon Wear consists of evening, cocktail, and party dressses for the everyday woman that range in size from 0 – 16. His style is creative and sexy yet sophisticated, fitting a wide age range.

The Look
The looks are a Psychobilly inspired collection with vibrant neon fabrics by Wolfon Wear. The models will have hair accesories made of fruit and colored hair pieces. Juicy!

What is ShootTheModel?
We bring in a local designer  to pair their fashions with models of their choice, and define the sets they believe will set off their fashion. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience shooting in a studio environment. The challenge is to combine your creative eye and direction abilities to inspire the model to give you an energy and image that is uniquely yours. You are welcomed to bring your own props (and you don’t have to share) We’ll take care of all the rest.

Bell Bottoms are a fashion trend that was very hot in 2011 with larger, more exaggerated bells than the millennial ‘flare’ jean trend and more reflective of 70′s fashion. The models will be providing wardrobe that follows this trend.

This is our ShootTheModel Basic series, it’s an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with models and Profoto strobes. The challenge is to combine your creative eye and direct and inspire your subject to yield an image that is uniquely yours. You are welcomed to bring your own props.

It’s a great time, our own little photo party for the Austin fashion and photography community, and the coolest opportunity to shoot and network in a creative setting.

ShootTheModel is creative photography event and collaboration featuring the talent of a local austin clothing designer, modeled by 3-4 gorgeous models who are done up in high style by a team of mua’s, hair stylists, and jewelry designers.

April Fowler, Blo stylist, came aboard early to lend her talents on shoots for Kramp Kouture, EatYourHeartOut, MLwear, and byDavidJ. After sharing photos from these after hours collaborations, she convinced the PIC at Blo Austin it would be a good thing if they became our official sponsors. And we couldn’t be happier jujubabies!

If you are looking for a close, easy access, controlled environment for any of your production needs during sxsw week in March 2012, we have a wonderful photo/production space available for SXSW week. It’s just a short distance away from the convention center, away from the madness, but close enough to the party.

This studio space is perfect for any style of production. 1100 square feet, light controlled.  Band Photos, Interviews with a green screen back drop, podcast, radio station, blog-matic head quarters at your finger tips. A space that will give you the quality control to work your sxsw magic in.

RATES:
1 hour – $125.00 us.
2 hours – $200.00 us
Each rental will have three lights, a tripod, and any of our available back drops included. We have stands, booms, sandbags at the studio.
If you require extra gear & equipment, make your reservations with Gear Rentals and we’ll pick up and return the equipment for you for a $30 delivery charge.

Achachay is slang in Ecuador, borrowed from the native language Quechua. It is an onomatopoeia that means, “Burrrr, it’s cold!” While traveling in Ecuador, lead singer Jordan Myska Allen began booking shows in Austin, TX and corresponding with drummer Ryan Greenblatt, although they had never played together. Jordan picked a fun word in order to confirm the first show for the unborn band, and it stuck.

Achachay! is on a mission to get people merrymaking, thinking deeply, and doing good by playing FUNK ROCK with a heavy dose of LATIN and DANCE grooves. We strive to push music and the music industry to new frontiers in creativity, accessibility, and integrity. We create songs and performances with many layers of meaning, but always remember to laugh and not take ourselves too seriously.

We have a ramp, a pedestal, a pole, wings, and 6 point lighting. I hear Jason is also a bit of a contortionist.
This is going to be an awesome shoot.

Juju Foto Factory is a working photography studio and gallery space located in the heart of the east side arts district in Austin, Texas. We seek to provide emerging photographers the opportunity to show their work and develop their exhibition resumes.

Theme:
We encourage work which reflects contemporary photography’s roles in perceiving history and collective memory about the music. We encourage photographers working in all Lo-Fi mediums of photography from Holga, Lomo, pin-hole, Lensbabies lenses, cell-phone cameras, home-made cameras and vintage cameras to submit.

- Portrait: a posed photograph
- Reportage: un-staged photographs that tell a story
- Festivals: photographs taken at live music events
