bio
I grew up listening to a lot of music – “oldies” mostly – The Beatles, lots of Motown and British Invasion. When I was thirteen, I heard Eddie Van Halen for the first time, and I immersed myself in the ultra-creative world of rock n’ roll. The attitude, the fashion, the writing, album artwork, concert design, and of course, the music.
As a teenager, I played in a fistful of rock and metal bands, and began designing album covers, websites, and show flyers on Photoshop 6.0 to promote them. Fast forward about 10 years, and I’m into my fifth year as a professional graphic designer and photographer.
I love working with musicians and bands to create exciting promotional materials to help them advance their music. My dream when I was a teenager was to be in a touring rock band, and I spent a lot of time staring at the photography in rock and guitar magazines, amazed at the cool and the power that a guitar bestowed on the players. I still have a deep passion and affection for musicians, and I love to help them chronicle their time with their bands and their fans. Anybody who tries to to go out there and play from the heart, perform for the people, and put their artistry on the line has my deep respect and gratitude.
As a relative newcomer to Austin in 2010, I was searching for someplace to connect with artists and immerse myself in the local creative scene, to become part of it. I met Juju at a meetup event at her studio, and now I organize the monthly Shoot the Band events at Juju Foto Factory. It's great to meet the bands, hear the music, and help keep the local flavor fresh.
